Hillsborough, N.C., April, 29, 2008 – Piedmont Electric Membership Corporation, an electric cooperative headquartered in Hillsborough, N.C., has signed a Purchase Power Agreement for 50kw solar photovoltaic power generation from MegaWatt Solar, Inc. The solar project will be located at the cooperative’s Caswell County district office. The project is expected to deliver solar power to the cooperative’s members by the fall of this year. Construction will start immediately on preparing the site which will consist of twenty ground mounted solar collector arrays. Suitable land exists at the Caswell County district office site for future expansion. This solar project supports North Carolina’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standards Legislation.
